About Cambridge English
Cambridge English Language Assessment is created by the University of Cambridge and has been providing English language assessments and qualifications for over 100 years. It provides fair, valid and reliable language assessment for people regardless of their ages, genders, nationalities and ethnic backgrounds.

By taking these exams, not only do you make it easy to describe the language skills to your prospective educational institutions such as in the P1 and S1 discretionary places admission interviews, it can also help you develop and enhance the English skills which require in studies, work and everyday life systemically and holistically.

Cambridge English Language Assessment is accepted by 15,000 universities, employers and governments around the world. These exams also open doors to higher education, improve employment opportunities, and increase choice for study or work locally and internationally.

i) Young Learners Exam (YLE): Starters, Movers and Flyers
It is designed to assess the English language skills of children aged between 5 and 12, the Cambridge English: Young Learners (YLE) exams are available at three assessment levels (Starters,Movers and Flyers) that encourage children to work through by monitoring their progress.

YLE consists of three sets of exam papers, namely, (1) listening, (2) reading and writing and (3) speaking.

Starters exam is suitable for K3-P1 pupils.

Movers exam is suitable for P1-P3 pupils.

Flyers exam is suitable for P3-P6 pupils.

ii) Key English Test for Schools (KETfS)
Cambridge English: Key, also known as the Key English Test (KET) and Key English Test for Schools (KETfS), is the lowest level General English exam in the Cambridge English range. It shows that you can communicate in basic English in everyday situations.

Cambridge English: Key for Schools (KETfS) is at the same level as Cambridge English: Key and leads to exactly the same internationally accepted certificate. The only difference is that the exam content is targeted at the interests and experiences of school children.

Level of qualification: Elementary = A2 on the Common European Framework.

It is suitable for P5-P6 pupils who have reached an intermediate English level.

iii) Preliminary English Test for Schools (PETfS)
Cambridge English: Preliminary is also known as the Preliminary English Test (PET) and Preliminary English Test for Schools (PETfS). This exam shows that you can communicate in English in practical, everyday situations. It will give you a good foundation if you want to study for a professional English qualification.

Cambridge English: Preliminary for Schools (PETfS) is at the same level as Cambridge English: Preliminary and leads to exactly the same internationally accepted certificate. The only difference is that the exam content is targeted at the interests and experiences of school children.

Level of qualification: Intermediate = B1 on the Common European Framework.

It is suitable for P6-S2 pupils who have reached an advanced English level. It also serves as a good preparation for Hong Kong Attainment Test (Pre-S1) English Language.

Cambridge English Examination Date
For Starters, Movers, Flyers, KETfS and PETfS, the examination period is open from January to December.
